Following what proved to be a year long application process, I finally received my US Visa today. Time to tie up some loose ends and get moving. I hope to be making my move to New York City in early July 2009.
Once there, I won’t be allowed to work for some time, as a condition of the process. Expect more blogging at that point both here and on my music site, BryanDavis.info. I’ll have to fill my time somehow!

I’m writing this at 6.30am in Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on the way back from my most recent excursion with “Rat Pack – Live At The Sands” US tour. Life has been really crazy lately with more travelling than I would have thought I’d ever do. Running backwards and forwards between UK and US Tour dates [...]

I’ve blogged, from time to time, about my friend and fellow trumpeter; Brian Lynch, and more specifically about his recent Artistshare Project.
I’m pleased to see that the resultant CD; “Simpatico”, won a Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album of the Year at last night’s awards. This is not only suitable recognition for a wonderful recording [...]
The news is that Cynthia, my girlfriend of 7 years, and I got engaged!!

I’m just back in from playing a Rat Pack show in Darlington this evening. It’s really been a pleasure to get back and play with one of the British bands. The last two weeks have been an eye-opener in terms of the cultural differences between UK and US musicians; it seems, in short, that as [...]

Happy Birthday to me!!! Thirty-two years old today and celebrating with a longish wait for a flight at Amsterdam Airport!
I’m on a 3 and a half hour layover on the way back from Des Moines. Should get back home at around 5pm after which I’m having dinner with my parents and then trying to recover [...]

I’ve just got home from a trip to the Optician for my annual eye-test. I started wearing glasses about a year ago and have never felt that I had the hang of them.

Today, about 6 months after publishing his website, I actually met Jimmy Cannon!!
He’s over visiting some other friends of his who play in our band. Apparently there’s been some really positive feedback about the site – always good to hear.

On Saturday night we finished the Rat Pack at Christmas show at the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham. It was a great run and I’d like to thank all the guys in the band for making it so pleasant. Special thanks go to Gerry Freeman (drums) and all the folks in Trumpet section; John Ruddick and [...]

Sounds unlikely, I know, but a friend of mine Pete Shelley; saxophonist on the Rat Pack Christmas show here in Birmingham, is running in the Flora London Marathon 2006. He’s managed to get an entry running for a charity called “Help The Hospices” and now needs people to sponsor him so he’s allowed to finally [...]
