Not As Blind or Stupid As I Thought!

I’ve just got home from a trip to the Optician for my annual eye-test. I started wearing glasses about a year ago and have never felt that I had the hang of them. They were principally prescribed for driving and things at a distance and they’ve been fine but I have always felt very uneasy wearing them while simply walking around.

I thought, to begin with, that it was just going to be a case of getting used to them - to being able to see clearly again but, even after a few days consciously trying to wear them, I never got over the feeling that I was knee-deep in the floor. This situation didn’t change all year and I’ve consequently given up wearing them except when driving or watching concerts (or occasionally TV). This irked me somewhat because I’m not accustomed to not making things work, but such is life…

Imagine my surprise and delight when the optician today described to me exactly the problem I’ve been having! It turns out that my glasses had been mis-prescribed. His results today were more different to my previous prescription that he believed could be down to my eyes changing over the course of a year. I took a brief saunter around the shop wearing the tester pair (what a time to not have a camera…) and felt much more comfortable. I’ll get my newly reglazed glasses in a few days. Let’s see how it goes…
