I’ve just upgraded to the new Wordpress 2.0 Beta 2. It all seems to be working well except for the Photos page. The plugin responsible for making the galleries doesn’t seem to work properly with the new version so I’ve temporarily taken down the page. I’ll get it fixed when I can.
Other than that, I’m really enjoying the redesigned interface. If you’re feeling bold, then check it out for yourself. I found it via a link on my Dashboard.

I’m just back from a splendid evening’s fun playing with my Quartet at HullJazz. We had a really good time with a receptive audience, as it always is over there in East Yorkshire.
My thanks go to the club promoter; Ken Ford, and the guys in the band; Rob Barron (Piano), Tony Faulkner (Drums) and, particularly, Nigel Slee (Bass). Nigel was good enough to step in at the last minute after our regular bassist; Adrian Knowles, was taken ill with food poisoning. Get Well Soon Adrian.
I’m really pleased with how the band is shaping up. We only get to play together very occasionally since I’m almost constantly touring with The Rat Pack, but when we do it’s not only pleasing on the ear but very enjoyable too. They’re a great bunch of guys and I look forward to getting into the studio at our earliest convenience.
Talking of recording, I remembered to bootleg the gig tonight. Only the 2nd set unfortunately – apparently I failed to hit Record properly to begin with – but if the sound quality is reasonable, I’ll be sure to post a couple of tunes over at BryanDavis.info for your delectation and delight. We’ll see…
Greetings also to Dave Bell, an old friend who I was pleased to see for the first time in a few years. Dave is a great Jazz enthusiast with a formidable collection of recorded music. I welcome him back to these shores following a brief emigration to Iceland. Great to see you Dave!!!

I finally finished and published my latest website today. Jimmy Cannon is a Singer, Saxophonist and Bandleader based in London. We’ve been working together for the last 6 weeks or so to put the site up.
He has a new Big Band CD out called “All ToGetHer” which you can check out via the site. I got my own copy for making up the sound-clips for the site and it’s really quite good. The band play the well-crafted charts with aplomb and Jimmy contributes some fine vocals.
Anyway, please check out the site and leave a comment here if you spot any problems.

I’m pleased to (finally) confirm that I will be playing Lead Trumpet for “Christmas with the Rat Pack” at Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre this Christmas.
The show runs from Monday 12th December for 4 weeks. Please come and check it out, should be a lot of fun!!

I’ve just downloaded the recent Paul Anka album; "Rock Swings" from the iTunes Music Store. Having just listened to only the first few tracks, I’m compelled to write and recommend that you check it out!
This really is a great album featuring Mr Anka’s renditions of (comparatively) recent pop songs re-arranged for a fantastic Big Band. Highlights so far have included Spandau Ballet’s "True" and "Wonderwall" by Oasis.
Paul Anka is in good voice on this recording and the band is absolutely terrific. The arrangements are great too with some interesting twists on familiar songs.
For more information on Paul Anka, visit his website. I also recommend that you buy the CD – possibly at Amazon or by downloading it from iTunes, as I did.
