Last night saw the first official Rat Pack “Wacky Races” as many of us set off for home from Truro.
It’d be fun, and possibly even interesting, to see who was going where, how far it was and what time they got back. Leave a comment and we’ll compare notes.
If you feel a particular affinity to a Wacky Races character, please also say which one your think you are. I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that Craig will turn out to be Penelope PItstop…..
I’ll get the ball rolling…

In case, somebody actually gets on to the site before it goes public again, please note that this is only a temporary version. The full site should be relaunched later this week (although I’ve been meaning to get it done for about 2 months!!) so please check back then.
Full service will be resumed really soon!!

Sorry for the continual switching around of the visual stylings of this site. I’m still trying to get the design settled while simultaneously working on 3 other sites and playing the show!!I hope to get something final sorted in the next couple of weeks – in the meantime, please be patient and don’t be alarmed if the theme changes again.
I’ll be back….

Just to put the word out that I’m playing a couple of gigs with my Jazz Quintet this week! I rarely get to dust off this pad and it’ll be fun to get out to the stage with it again. We’re playing 2 gigs and I’m really pleased with the guys we have in the band this time. They are:
I am, of course, playing Trumpet and Flügelhorn.
We’re playing at the North Leeds Jazz Night on Tuesday 6th September. The venue, these days, is the Highwood Hotel on Brackenwood Drive in Moortown. Doors open 8.15pm and we play at around 8.45pm. There is a door charge of £3 (£2 unwaged). If you’re in the Leeds area, please come and have a look.
Then, on Friday 9th September, I have the pleasure of playing the opening set at the Cleethorpes Jazz Festival 2005. It’s always nice to play at festivals and I’m particularly pleased since Cleethorpes is my home town! The Festival starts with my band and we play from 7-8pm. The rest of the evening sees performances by Ian Shaw and Snake Davis. It should be a good night. There are concerts going on all weekend and you can find details of location and ticket prices etc at their website.
If you decide to attend one of the gigs as a result of reading about it here, please come and say hello. I’ll hope to see you there…

I’m sitting at the gate in Boston’s Logan International Airport, killing time and having a surf courtesy of the “loganwifi” network.
I’ve been trying for a year or so to actually manage to get onto an Airport network but previously I’ve been thwarted by poor signal or prohibitive cost, or both! It’s nice to find a sensibly priced network at last. Just $7.95 (or about £4.50) for up to 24 hours access. That seems ok to me since I’ve got a little over 3 hours to kill just now. Mark you, I’ll have to find a power outlet before that – my battery shows about an hour left.
It’s been an interesting 24 hours. I arrived back at my Girlfriend’s place about this time yesterday to catch the end of her old room-mate moving out. This has proved to be a slightly unpleasant situation since she only gave 7 days notice of her intention to move and then advertised the room on website called CraigsList which resulted in a bombardment of forwarded emails and exchanges of upset words! How can you seriously expect to find somebody to share your living space that you trust to be in your space in just a week? To cap it all, the ex-roommate also did a runner yesterday without paying up her bills. I’m sure her reward will be forthcoming at a later date – karma has a way of catching up with you!! It seems, therefore, that my plans were somehow supposed to be changed yesterday. I know my presence and support were better appreciated in person than they would have been over the phone and after the fact.
Of course, today didn’t go entirely smoothly either. Upon arriving at LaGuardia Airport (NY) today, I found that my flight to Boston was cancelled. Luckily, they are numerous and I was booked on to the next. When faced with the delay yesterday, the airline were, seemingly, most efficient in offering me alternative travel plans. That said, it turned out today that they had only booked me on the flight to Boston and not on my main flight – Boston to Manchester. It’s turned out to be ok, there was no problem with availability, but there was certainly a stressful moment or two at Check-In earlier on!! Here’s hoping that the flight I’m currently awaiting has no problems – as nice as it was to get an extra night in New York, it’d be good to get to my UK home for a few days! I’ll be sure to let you know….
