May The CD Shopping Begin…

I’m back in New York on holiday, on my 2 weeks off from Tour. The difference is, as you may have read before, that I have insurance money to burn on CDs!! Yesterday afternoon, I headed down to J&R Music to make a start. As ever, this great record shop didn’t let me down. They often have sales there and on this occasion, any recordings on the Verve, Fantasy, Concord and Blue Note labels were on sale.

I dipped my toes in to the water and came out of the shop with, a fairly restrained, 15 discs. They are as follows:

  • “Cookin’ with the Miles Davis Quintet” - Miles Davis
  • “Live at Monterey!” - Don Ellis Orchestra
  • “One More Trip to Birdland” - Maynard Ferguson & Big Bop Nouveau
  • “These Cats Can Swing” - Maynard Ferguson & Big Bop Nouveau
  • “Remembering Clifford” - Benny Golson
  • “Que Viva Coltrane” - Conrad Herwig & Brian Lynch
  • “Ready For Freddie” - Freddie Hubbard (RVG Edition)
  • “The Concord Jazz Heritage Series” - Rob McConnell & the Boss Brass
  • “The Thing To Do” - Blue Mitchell (RVG Edition)
  • “Blue’s Moods” - Blue Mitchell
  • “Hi Voltage” - Hank Mobley (RVG Edition)
  • “Roll Call” - Hank Mobley (RVG Edition)
  • Oscar Peterson & Harry Edison
  • Oscar Peterson & Roy Eldridge
  • “This Is How I Feel About Quincy” - Phil Woods

I’ll be back at J&R again in a couple of days to try and catch a different sale - most of these cost between $7-9!!!
