Burglars with no taste!!

I’m writing this at the end of a very long day! I travelled back from Berlin to Leeds (via Newcastle!) to attend a meeting with an Insurance Claims Investigator.

A few weeks ago, while I was in Vienna, my house was burgled. It was the burglars 3rd attempt in as many weeks and the first time they actually got in. Luckily, they took very little but did get away with almost 200 CDs from my extensive Jazz collection. While this is obviously upsetting, I was heartened to observe (when I did get to check out what was gone) that the CDs by Brian Lynch, Eddie Henderson, Jim Rotondi and Ryan Kisor all remain. These are 4 of my favourite contemporary Trumpet players and their recordings tend to be a little hard to come by here in the UK. I considered this practically a miracle as the discs were alphabetized on shelves and the rest of B-O all got taken. Just goes to prove that the idiots who broke in have no taste!!

Fortunately, the Claims Investigator was satisfied with the claim I’d put in and actually made, what I consider to be, a fair settlement for the CDs - a comparatively unusual event in my experience. Thus, shortly, I shall start rebuilding my collection in earnest. The next few weeks and months should be fun!!
