I’m writing this post in my new Mac emulation on the Safari browser in Mac OSX!! Thanks to the fine folks at the PearPC project I am now running a full (if slightly slow) Macintosh system in a virtual computer on my Windows desktop!!
Not only will this allow me to get the hang of the Mac operating system for when I finally break down and swap but, more importantly right now, it will also allow me to test out my websites in Macintosh browsers. This will be quite a boon and will let me head off all kind of problems before they start. At least, that’s the theory…
In any case, it’s very very cool. I’m having a proper post-Christmas geek moment to myself….

I was pleased to receive an email from German photographer; Oskar Henn, the other day. He had been at the Unterfahrt Jazz Club in Munich on my last night of tour and took some great shots of the guys playing in the Jam Session. He has graciously allowed me to use any or all of the pictures for the website so look out for some more changes in the coming weeks.

This is one of my personal favourites. The complete collection of photos from that night is in an online gallery on his website and can be visited here. Along with myself, some of the other musicians pictured include: Adam Bishop (Tenor Sax), Martin Zenker (Bass), Willi Johanns (Vocals), Peter Tüscher (Trumpet) and Phillip Stauber (Guitar). Apologies to the others who I either didn’t meet or whose names I’ve forgotten.

I’m pleased to report that I’m safely back home following the end of the current leg of "The Rat Pack – Live from Las Vegas" European Tour. We finished in Munich on Sunday and I flew home early Monday morning.
It was a great tour as I have previously mentioned but it is good to be back. I had the chance to see my parents on Monday and also talk at greater length (than I have recently) with my brother and sister on the phone. This is my first chance to post since my return, principally because it took 2 days to sort through the backlogue of mail waiting for me on the doormat. I also had to take my earliest opportunity to reinstall Windows into English on my new laptop – now I understand what the occasional error messages mean!!
The last weekend in Munich was pretty busy as aside from the show I also played with Munich-based Jazz singer; Jenny Evans, on Saturday night and met up with my old friend Willi Johanns on Sunday after the last 2 shows. 5 gigs and a Jam session in 2 days make for tired lips!!! I’ll report more fully on the music scene in Munich in due course…
For now, it’s nice to be home. It never ceases to amaze me how much better I sleep in my own bed even when I’ve had months away to get used to others. On that note, I think I’ll head there right now. It’s three o’clock in the morning here and I think I’ve gazed at this screen long enough for one day.
